Boiler scrappage scheme - £400 off

125,000 households are being offered £400 towards the cost of upgrading their G-rated boiler under a new boiler scrappage scheme, created to cut carbon emissions and help people save money on their bills.

High efficiency condensing boilers convert 86% or more of their fuel into heat, compared to 65% for old G rated boilers. So by replacing a G rated boiler with an A rated boiler your bills should drop by about a quarter – saving you, on average, around £235 a year.

Who is eligible?

The scheme is open to 125,000 householders who are living in an owned or privately rented home in England. It is operated on a first come first served basis. If you are under 60 you can apply for the scheme if the boiler you are scrapping is in working order and it is the main boiler used to heat the home. If you are over 60 you can apply for the scheme regardless of whether the boiler you are scrapping is in working order. This does, however, need to be the main boiler used to heat the home.

Is your boiler G rated?

There are a few ways to determine whether your boiler is G rated:

Does your boiler have a permanent pilot light?
Is your boiler gas fired and over fifteen years old?
Is your boiler oil fired and over twenty five years old?

How to apply for the boiler scrappage scheme?

If you have a G rated boiler and you wish to apply for the voucher you must first obtain a quote from us. Once you have done this you can visit the website www.energysavingtrust.co.uk or call 0800 512 012 to find out how to apply for the voucher. The validity of the voucher is twelve weeks. If the voucher expires the voucher will be relocated. Once you have received the voucher we can go ahead with the installation. PLEASE NOTE installations made before the receipt of the voucher will invalidate your claim and you will no longer be eligible for the £400 rebate.

Low Carbon Buildings Programme

If you are looking to replace your old boiler with a heat pump, biomass boiler, or solar hot water system then you may be eligible for a grant of up to £2500 towards installation. Visit the Low Carbon Buildings Programme website at www.lowcarbonbuildings.org.uk, for further details. You can apply for both the £400 voucher and the £2500 grant.
